Villacorta GATE Students Participate in Lego League Robotics Tournament:

Villacorta Principal John Martinez shared the following great news: “Congratulations to our RoboVikings who took part in the First Lego League Tournament and did a great job! This was the first time Villacorta students participated in this type of event. Students earned points in three skill areas: Tech (the team was interviewed by judges about their learning related to robotics and had to do a blindfold activity to test their teamwork skills); Project (the team presented their Nature's Fury - Floods project to a different set of judges); and Competition (the team participated in three separate 2 minute challenges to execute various tasks with their robot. Each challenge happens with 4 teams participating in the same competition area simultaneously.) Our RoboVikings showed off their learning, teamwork skills, and respect for others throughout the day. I was proud and impressed as they demonstrated how well they worked with each other and how encouraging and supportive they were with one another. Thanks to our awesome staff members Estela Gonzales and Lydia Narcisse for being extraordinary GATE coaches and for supervising and cheering for the kids all day long.”
